Ed Tobin has been licensed in insurance since 1983, adding life and health in 2002 and property and casualty in 2004.
For seventeen of those years he owned a Farmers agency, where the products he could offer were limited to one company's portfolio. That experience showed him how much the available menu shapes the recommendation. He built an independent agency next, so the recommendation could follow the client rather than the contract.
Twenty-five years of that work has been with restaurants, nightclubs and entertainment businesses — industries where turnover is high, work comp is expensive, and payroll mistakes surface fast.
Next Wave applies the same logic to payroll, HR, and workforce services, where a poor fit can be harder to see until the operational problems start showing up.

On payroll, HR, and workforce, Next Wave provides none of the underlying services itself. There is no Next Wave payroll platform, HR system, or workforce product to steer you toward. Insurance and employee benefits are different: those are offered through our affiliate, Tobin Insurance, a licensed independent agency that shops across 30+ carriers rather than writing for one.
Next Wave is compensated by the providers we place clients with.
The work starts before the recommendation. Most of what we do happens before a recommendation exists — understanding what you're running, what it costs, and what's actually failing.
